BRC Document Leaks: The LGF Archives, Articles 12000-12999

Here’s the link for the next batch:

OK, we’re getting into the real meat of the LGF archives now, as this collection pretty much contains everything related to the “Rathergate” episode prior to the 2004 presidential election (LGF articles #12526_Bush_Guard_Documents-_Forged, #12582_CBS_Killian_Document_Index, and #12615_The_Smoking_Memo are featured in the sidebar under “LGF hits” to this day). You’ll see that the subject dominates throughout this batch.

We also have a memory-holed thread in here (12964_Daily_Kos_Sponsored_by_NEA), and we’re still not exactly sure why that one vanished.

Here’s the list, for reference:

BRC Document Leaks: The LGF Archives, Articles 11000-11999

The next batch:

https://rapidshare.com/files/2025388014/11000-11999.zip

We might as well remind folks of a few previously-featured nuggets in this collection, like the infamous “craven coward” line that CJ threw at Kos for memory-holing and apparently blocking the wayback machine on DailyKos in #11884 (Zuniga_Hides_the_Evidence). We know now that Johnson apparently doesn’t hold himself to the same standard, having done all that and more on a much larger scale. Relatedly, we see one of those “thread vanishing events” is there, as #11697 went into the memory hole after Charles realized he had linked to a year-old story about Libya’s nuke program.

What I thought I’d feature from this batch today is another one about Kos, as they seem to have let bygones be and have recently become twitter buddies. Johnson would go on to publish countless dozens of anti-Kos threads over the years at LGF (our links grab spotted 456 front page links to dailykos.com in the archives; more than cnn.com), but here’s one of the early ones, inducting Markos into what would become the Hall of Creeps with #11855:

BRC Document Leaks: The LGF Archives, Articles 10000-10999

Our series continues with this batch:

https://rapidshare.com/files/1537812042/10000-10999.zip

This collection contains one of the weirdest exchanges in all the archives; LGF thread #10567 (Daily_Kos-_Strike_Back_at_LGF!) is the home of the infamous comment #17. When you read the thread, it becomes apparent that Johnson went completely unhinged on another commenter (Innismir), for reasons that can only be explained as extreme insecurity. Although the comment itself is [deleted], we can tell from the reaction that Johnson simply went off on the poor guy, to the point that the other commenters speculated that his account had become possessed. This led to an equally strange move, whereas Johnson posted a thread that was intended to be temporary, with the intention of alleviating all concerns (this we dug out of the memory hole, LGF #10568):

BRC Document Leaks: The LGF Archives, Articles 9000-9999

Here’s the next batch:

https://rapidshare.com/files/1558002446/9000-9999.zip

Johnson was really hitting his stride here; he managed to go a thousand threads without a single gap or memory-hole! Observers might also notice that humorous thread we featured here not too long ago (#9033 “Arx Americana”). Commenting levels are increasing significantly as our series enters 2004, perhaps helped along by what we see in #9318:

(years later, Johnson would refer to this same Wizbang award as a “silly internet poll”, and a “wingnut popularity contest“…after being beaten by Pam Geller)

Anyway, the list, after the fold:

Next batch:

https://rapidshare.com/files/271428862/8000-8999.zip

hmmm…#8574 was the “rescued” thread featured here, and there’s a lot of “Palestinian Child Abuse” in there as well, but perhaps a good one to feature today is one that sits towards the top of the “stuff CJ forgot to delete” list:  #8719:

BRC Document Leaks: The LGF Archives, Articles 7000-7999

…and we keep rollin’ on:

https://rapidshare.com/files/2877613353/7000-7999.zip

In this batch, we see more hints of Johnson’s increasing popularity in the blogosphere (7256_LGF_at_HughHewitt.com, 7561_LGF_On_Dennis_Prager_Show), as well as the increasing vitriol in those aforementioned anti-Muslim thread titles (7370_Religion_of_Poisonous_Syringes, 7505_Religion_of_Bomb_and_Anthrax_Threats, 7878_Religion_of_Child_Murderers, etc.). Otherwise, a quick scan of 7000-7999 doesn’t result in anything too particularly interesting (let me know in the comments), other than the fact that the span only includes one missing thread.

Oh, and one Nekama’s Troll Hammer (comment 19 in #7856):

(yes, those are retroactive updings)

BRC Document Leaks: The LGF Archives, Articles 6000-6999

..and we continue our public service with the following batch:

https://rapidshare.com/files/2888812671/6000-6999.zip

One of our keen-eyed observers might notice that Charles’ infamous “Saint Pancake” comment lies [deleted] in this collection (# 6557_IDF_Raids_ISM), along with a recently featured memory-holed thread (# 6276_Captain_America_Traitor), but because the LGF Dictionary also fell victim to the “delete” key, I thought I’d feature another tidbit that still appears even today:

Once again, the list for reference:
