We face Certain Death!

Billions will die! That was the Elusive Quixote’s famous phrase which brought laughs to us at the Diary of Daedalus. Charles promoted a post by Far left commentator Interesting Times (publicityStunted). He links to some story that claims we are on the verge of  total destruction!

I am so scared reading this! I don’t know what’s the point of life, since I am going to do from Global Warming. I love Science Fiction, but not when it leads to hysteria like this.

Update: The Elusive Quixote makes an appearance! It took a thread about that we are on the verge of extinction to bring him out of his hiding place. The Elusive one even says he can only do a quick post and run. He is still trying to avoid his predator and fomer lover Iceweasal.

The Elusive Quixote goes on a  rant about Republicans being evil and not attacking people who ride electric bicycles.

Billions will die and only Charles Johnson can save us!

I’m not going to wait for this horror to commence. I’m just going to end it now. Why prolong the inevitable?

  2. haysoos says:

maybe the models are flawed, like the urban heat measurements…lots of room for improvement…I’m not impressed with those that claim to understand the climate and that the science is definitive….sorta presumptuous, what you think you know is not science, it’s speculation and opinion

    come to think
doesn’t sound to definitive to me

    Right….don’t talk to us, asshole.

  8. Arachne says:

So why didn’t it break records everywhere? No temperature records were broken in Northern California – so we’re immune from global warming? We’ve had a very mild July – in fact, we aren’t supposed to go over 85 next week.

There were no droughts before now? Ever hear of the “Grapes of Wrath?”

    • buzzsawmonkey says:

The Prunes of Wrath is the story of a Baby-Boom couple whose kids move back home because they can’t find jobs, and who struggle as the Obama Depression erodes their dwindling savings while they scrabble for jobs as Wal-Mart greeters and suffer through the increasing depredations of Obamacare.

      • Bunk X says:

Except that Wal-Mart will be found to be in violation of trade statutes or something and will no longer exist.

Don’t worry about it Charlie. You’re gonna starve long before then. Evil Republicans will stop paying any taxes soon. Then poor underprivileged rioters will steal all your Cheetos when the civil war comes in a few years

  10. Engineer #5 says:

I read about this a few weeks back when it was published in the respected peer-reviewed scientific journal “Rolling Stone”. If he really believes the bilge he writes, then Bill McKibben is certifiably nuts. On the other hand, Charles Johnson is just too dimwitted or lazy to question such ravings. Truth no longer matters at LGF. Now it traffics in hysteria, outrage, and class warfare and bigotry.

    • poteen2 says:

That’s a bingo. Bill McKibbon and Pudpounder 54, Charlie’s go to guys to dress up his AGW lies.

  11. haysoos says:

like the birther gig…people believe what they want, not what they know…I don’t really give a shit, but a civil, state document like a birth cert can be easily forged, it probably happens all the time…just because you can see a picture on the internet doesn’t prove anything, except maybe how naive you are

I propose the following new definition:

Republican: a greedy, semi-retarded, douche who lives in constant fear of losing his place in a cruel hierarchy he hopes to ingratiate himself to and who will rationalize any cruelty, injustice or prejudice in the name of his perceived piece of the hierarchy, while thinking he does Jesus’ work.

    • Archonix says:

Wow, talk about projection. You only need to replace “Republican” and “Jesus” with “Leftist” and “Obama” and you’ve got the whole kit and caboodle of the left in a nutshell.

      • Pakimon says:

Replace “Republican” and Jesus” with “Lizardoid” and Charles and you’ve got The Bog in a nutshell as well. 😆

Cruel hierarchy is an apt description of The Swamp. Well done, Loody.

    re: #134 funky chicken

Yep. And utilities need to be forced to use emissions cleaners on all coal plants across the US. I was shocked to read that many states still don’t require that, and the technology has been around since at least the early 1980s. Some ranchers in Texas made the news last year because they were having serious tree loss from acid rain because Texas coal plants don’t have to remove sulfur and nitrogen oxides from their emissions.

And I’d hit “big oil” with HUGE taxes on those record profits they’re paying their shareholders and CEOs and use the money to build natural gas infrastructure across most of the US. Fracking ain’t great, but it can be better regulated, and the nat gas is cleaner than oil and diesel for running big rigs, etc.

That is what a responsible government would have done 20 years ago.

That is what an intelligent government would have done 10 years ago.

That is what a sane government would have done 4 years ago.

But we have Republicans who are not responsible, intelligent or sane.

We have spineless Democrats who ignored the problem for all that time as well, and even today, would check their polls before trying to act.

But mostly, it is the GOP to blame when they decided to damn us all to the hell of a post warming world by denying the science and doing everything in their power to prevent any action whatsoever.

If we are very lucky, we will change course before catastrophic warming becomes a certainty, and in the following centuries of living in a world that was only dangerously warmed, the GOP, the greedy corporations and the horrible nations that all chose the short term mega-wealth of their elites, over the life, health and well being of the rest of humanity, will be considered (and rightfully so) some of the worst our species has to offer.

Get this really clear… the numbers mean billions dead.

The GOP is pushing for that. Whether they accept the science or not, they are pushing for it.

That will make them bigger killers than Stalin, Mao and the Nazis combined.

    • rightymouse says:

      Make up your mind, Ludwig!

Billions dead is a good thing, right?????

re: #14 Learned Mother of Zion

Imagine if Henry Ford and Thomas Edison did not totally screw over Nikola Tesla.

One need look no further than Ford and Edison to prove that the wealthy people who build or run corporations often built those corporations by being the worst sort of scum and doing the most immoral things.

I think I should find that picture of Henry Ford getting his Iron Cross from the German consulate for building up Krupp.

How am I going to get anything done today? The circus is back in town!

    • Arachne says:

Tesla just got a nice chunk of taxpayer change to build cars that only the 1% can afford. Be careful who you call the “worst sort of scum” lewdpig. Henry Ford’s company didn’t fuck over the bond holders in a bankruptcy.

      • OLT's Konspirasee says:

Henry Ford ran for the Senate as a Dem, and was a virulent Anti-Semite who spied on his workers, had a private police force, and refused to support the US in WW1 by charging full price for ambulances.

I.e., in today’s world he would be welcome in the Dem Party and IMO preferable to Harry Reid, another nasty old Dem bigot.

      • Kirlz says:

at least Henry Ford made cars that his employees could actually afford.

      • osprey1 says:

        As did Fisker.

      • osprey1 says:

The Fisker Karma is the ultimate limousine lib mobile. It has PETA certified “cruelty free” leather seats! The damn things cost six figures, are prone to failure and are not even built in the US. At least the Volt, for all its faults, is actually a drivable car.

    • rightymouse says:

And this from a guy who has a job & paycheck? 😯

  15. rightymouse says:

My Libertarian hubby summarized the lefty hysteria as: they hate human life.

  16. haysoos says:

ludbutt does more damage to his cause than any 100 republicans….very few people want to hear or agree with his rage….he’s a maniac whose message is laced with spittle…entertaining tho

  17. trebob says:

These guys are all a bunch of whiny hypocrites.

First off, this 3200 records broken doesn’t mean a thing. Simplifying the science like that just shows you are either lying or don’t understand how things work. But in a larger sense, if the world if going to hell in a hand basket without immediate and drastic change, then why don’t they lead the way? They only want someone ELSE to do something.

They all use electricity that more than likely is created burning some kind of fossil fuel. Let’s see them get off the grid and use solar or wind only for their power needs. It’s doable and legal to do.

They all use automobiles burning fossil fuel. If it’s a crises and “billions will die”, then only carbon free transport can be used. Let’s see them all lead by example and drop their autos. Volts don’t count, unless you can charge the batteries on solar or wind. Have bicycle, skates, horse or sneakers be your primary source of transportation.

Make sure you only shop locally. Having stuff shipped on an air plane and diesel truck gives it a large carbon footprint. It’s better that you shop locally where stores can consolidate shipping carbon creation.

Now, will any of these guys, including Mr. McKibbon, make even the smallest effort to reduce their carbon footprints? No. They will get on jets, drive gas burning cars, ship individual items (available locally) thousands of miles to evade the sales taxes, buy ocean front property while screaming about rising sea levels and sip lattes sneering about how people like me are morons. Yet IT’S A CRISES!!! BILLIONS WILL DIE!! (Lunch, sure but I’ll take my car so I can leave from there.)

    • Arachne says:

Also, those 3200 records broken in a day can be interpreted several ways. If we have an especially hot day in Northern California in July – say 110F thereabouts when the previous temperature was 109F, we’ll have broken a record. Add up the towns in Northern California and you have records broken for 400 towns. Wow – 400 heat records broken in one day in Northern California alone. BILLIONS WILL DIE.

      • Rufus T. Rumpswab says:

The reality is that the number of records broken is directly proportional to the number of weather stations in the database. For some reason, the US has more weather stations than the rest of the world combined. So – surprise! We get lots of individual records when it gets hot in a certain area. It’s because there’s a weather station at every airport and school and fire station and farm.

  18. garycooper says:

“Nuttier than squirrel-shit,” is Mr. McKibben.

Welcome back, Lewd-Critter. I knew you’d come flying back in a huff, after you were beckoned forth the other day. It’s like putting coins into a pinball machine, playing LGF. 😆

    • WTFIUWT says:

What is up with Willard A Watts?
He has such a man crush on Lord Chris Monckton that he has taken it upon himself to ban all comments that merely mention the name Peter Hadfield.

Watts promised to host a debate between Hadfield and Monckton, but the pretend Lord got pwned by Hadfield’s rebutal videos and ran away. So the circle jerk WUWT makes any mention of Monckton’s humiliation by Hadfield an excuse for banning commenters.
Why did Monckton renege on his promise of a debate and why does fat Tony Watts refuse to allow his sheeple to know about Monckton’s cowardly retreat?

    • Abu bin Squid says:

Hey, fellow old timer, pinball! I was just at Delavan Lake, WI and happened upon a new Iron Man pinball machine. Awesome! It had multi-ball but you had to plunge them into play. 4, maybe 5 at a time. Wicked. Never understood video games since there is no TILT – GAME OVER.

An 18-year-old boy in Bali who was caught having sex with a cow was forced to marry it in front of hundreds of people, according to video from Buzz: 60.

The teen said he thought the cow was a beautiful woman and it wooed him with compliments, the video says. Officials didn’t buy it, deciding on the marriage as punishment.

The teen passed out during the ceremony and the town decided to drown the cow.

McKibben is a journalist. No scientific background whatsoever. None. Zero. I think you have the algebra to get the concept of zero.

    • WTFIUWT says:

Tony Watts isn’t a real scientist either, he only plays one on the internet. He only has a high school degree and isn’t even a licensed meteorologist, he was only a television weather reader.
Have you seen how two of the co-writers of his farce of a paper have now distanced themselves from Watts and are only claiming to have given him some technical assistance?
His paper has holes in it big enough to drive a lorry though and Tony is this week’s biggest laughing stock on the internet.

      • beed says:

You are so beautiful when you put it like that.

Say, do you like to e-Mail?

      • Engineer #5 says:

No, there are much much bigger laughingstocks on the Interwebz this week.

      • garycooper says:

You’re so pretty when you lie, Reggie! 😆

Willard Anthony Watts [1] (born 1958) [2] is an American meteorologist [3][4] (AMS seal holder, retired),[5][1

Hint: Don’t get your “facts” from the Warmists. They have an agenda.

      • garycooper says:

Also, because you have shit for brains, you don’t know that Watts purposely published the paper online for “pre-peer-review,” requesting suggestions, corrections and clarifications. He is now reviewing and incorporating the review suggestions, as initially planned. You and your moron-pals are the laughingstocks of the internet! 😆

      • Rufus T. Rumpswab says:

        The wiki article goes on…

Watts has been the director and president of IntelliWeather Inc. since 2000,[6] and the managing member of Zev2Go LLC, an electric vehicle company since 2008.[17][18] Innovative Tech Works, Weathershop and ITWorks are all alternate business names for IntelliWeather.[19]

Electric vehicles, eh? Sounds like an Exxon stooge to me…

      • Rufus T. Rumpswab says:

In 2008, his blog won the internet voting-based Best Science Blog” Wizbang Weblog Award.[27][28]

The Internet can’t be wrong; it’s the ultimate consensus.

  26. Rufus T. Rumpswab says:

    And Loody…

You are 100% full of 100% pure bullshit when you say that an electric car charged from coal generated electricity has a smaller “carbon footprint” than a similar-sized gas car.

100%. you get that algebra too, huh?

  27. haysoos says:

so what’s ludbutts take on ethanol…reconciling that fiasco should be fun to hear…starve people, ruin cars all for some idiodic ideology?

  28. haysoos says:

Ludbutt…why do you hate Latinos?…what is the foundation of you bigotry?

    • beed says:

Ludders is no bigot. He does not hate Latinos except for the men, who are – in his words – greasier than a Boston lard sandwich and drip like a Saigon whore.

  29. Pakimon says:

Well, we can count Ludwig’s head exploding in a hilarious fashion when the the Notorious GOP takes over in November.

I just wish they’d announce one of the first orders of business when they “seize control” of the “gub’mint” would be to open up ANWAR for oil drilling.

Ol’ Luddy would go f**king berserk. 😆

    • Doppelgänger says:

The price of oil would drop immediately

    • Rufus T. Rumpswab says:

I was just talking to an industrial equipment salesman in Western PA yesterday, and he says that they’re going jolly gangbusters there with gas fracking. And the people there, many who used to work in the essentially defunct steel industry, are thankful. The donks are going to have to work hard to cheat in Philly, because the rest of the state hates Obama and his anti-fracking freaks.

  30. beed says:

I do have the solution to this global warming climate nonsense though: Introduce a global “you shit where you eat” policy and this will sort itself out in a matter of hours.

Or we could follow up on that carbon qouta thing. I dunno. I’m not so smart.

  31. Pakimon says:

Who cares about global warming when Ludwig has much bigger problem looming, namely an enraged Iceweasal coming to “give him the business” with her trusty strap-on as punishment for his misogynistic ways !

    He could:

    A) tell her to “go fuck herself, sideways” and we all know how that’s worked out in the past.

    B) Take the advice of the Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose and hope for the best. 😆

    • Rufus T. Rumpswab says:

“Poor Bill McKibben – he’s been trying to get something to melt for ages but it keeps backfiring,” Senator Inhofe said. “These alarmists never learn their lesson. Remember Bill McKibben was the one who was going to melt a giant ice sculpture in the shape of the word ‘hoax’ on the national mall, but his group had to cancel because there wasn’t enough interest. Now, after proclaiming that street lights in Oklahoma are melting because of global warming, we have confirmation that a fire caused this scene.

“Amid the resurgence of hysteria from my friends on the left, I appreciated climatologist Dr. John Christy who testified this week before the Environment and Public Works committee saying that instead of proclaiming this summer is ‘what global warming looks like’ it is ‘scientifically more accurate to say that this is what Mother Nature looks like, since events even worse than these have happened in the past before greenhouse gases were increasing like they are today.’
