The Pulsating Photographic Genius of Charles Foster Johnson – May Edition [Updated With Podcast Fun!]

Remember when The Greatest Mind of the Blogosphere bought a camera, took pictures, and presented them as magnificent works of prescient Art?  The LGF 2010 Calendar is still for sale.

[Update: The Sage of Culver City was interviewed at 3PM PST today on a podcast that I’ve never heard of. (He follows some guy from Mother Jones talking about the “peaceful” OWS protest in Oakland – only teargas.) Here’s the link: http://chirb.it/nNLbsL]

[Update 2: h/t Emperor for posting the naughty bits to YouTube.]

Does Charles have an opinion on this???

    • XOXO says:

What a ridiculous question: Charles has reformed! Now he’s only into cheetos, and wants nothing to do with pancakes.

  2. Emperor says:

For those who missed Charles’ interview today…..

I’m shocked he doesn’t get more interviews!!!!

  3. XOXO says:

Doesn’t matter who he roots for, what matters is this is an OPPORTUNITY to hit him with the deleted Pancake comment.

  4. kos laughs from his new tablet says:

    No calls were allowed?

    It’s snowing here.

  7. Kos Laughs at Chuckles says:

beyond the usual observations about fatso’s declining traffic, membership, comments, sanity, etc., the interview confirmed everything we have known about him for a long time, up to and including the pettiness, nazi obsession, and psychotic obsessions. That all is old news, but the fact that his attempt to be a big player in the leftysphere has pretty much been as big of a bucket of FAIL (save a pity link here or there) as everything else in his life (evidenced by TPM dumping him) has led him to court the far out, sh*thead, anarchist crowd should receive more attention and mockery. Now, he is getting close to being like a fading pr0n star who is reduced to donkey shows just to scrape together a few bucks, which, in a way, is karmic justice. Soros isn’t funding him, ad revenue is nothing, so he has to hope trust funded anarchists bail him out.

    Good luck, pal

No mention of the radio interview at LGF whatsoever. This I find extremely strange. But then again its all very strange there.

I’d just watch the video-the Occupier’s voice was absolutely unbearable!

I literally had a headache after 5 minutes of him.

    • Briareus says:

I thought the vid that was posted upthread was the infamous Calendar Commercial. I’ll update the thread.

    • Bunk X says:

The Oakland Occupooper from Mother Jones was hilarious. “The protest was peaceful. Just some teargas.”

It all makes sense now, Charles Johnson is associated with winos.

Too much merlot did it to him.

  13. Bagua says:

    • Bunk X says:

Chuck could have attended that meeting, but he didn’t. Turned out to be an important one, so he made up shit to discredit what first-hand sources Geller, Spencer and others reported.

If Chuckles wants to see real Nazis, all he has to do is look at the Nazis that support and have attended some of the Occupy rallies. You know, those Occupy rallies that Obama, Pelosi and Elizabeth Warren (Fauxchohantas) supports.

Seems like WP reset it’s defaults so that any comment you post spams your email with new comments, unless you uncheck the Notify box.

    • df's puddy tat says:

I was having that same problem with WP on Friday night cluttering up my inbox.

It seems to have resolved for now and I don’t have to uncheck the Notify Box anymore.

      • Bunk X says:

I saw you mentioned that. I found over 100 messages from DoD in my inbox. I don’t even read here.

    • ISTE says:

This is as exciting as listening to Beed’s toe fungus. I can’t wait for the commercial break.

  25. swamprat says:

So “Pamela Geller lashed out” at charles johnson?
She must have done so repeatedly to deserve such an ongoing avalanche of criticisms over a period of years.

charles knows about tribalism to be sure.

Now I’m astounded that charles learned that Obama was an ok guy….right after he got elected? How did charles know? What would Obama have had to do in order to live up to charles initial expectations? Frankly, Obama has been pretty much what I expected. He’s shown what a modern liberal education will do. Nothing surprising, but we need better.

  26. kos laughs from his new tablet says:

What gets me is that when he had a chance to really trollbait for traffic, he picked RS McCain? Really?

    • ElSuerte says:

LOL, I know! Funny how that worked out so well for RS McCain, despite his notoriety. I’m guessing that’s because McCain is a much better writer then CJ.

I will say one thing for CJ though. His voice jars me much less then McCain’s.

    • Pig says:

Has anyone let Mr McCain know about this?

  27. WalkedAway says:

454 comments today, lol, and he had an interview.

      • df's puddy tat says:

Well, that would be a new low if that is the correct number.

      • ISTE says:

We get 734 down in the boiler room

      • ISTE says:

        df’s puddy tat :
Well, that would be a new low if that is the correct number.

You have to remember to count the comments that are on the previous day’s late night thread and all the comments on user pages.

It is a very complicated formula and an extensive task to perform.

      • df's puddy tat says:

        Below 800 is STILL low.

      • Bagua says:

        It’s 455 now, who’s the wise guy?

      • Bagua says:

I just count the one’s on the date of the posts for my totals. So the total for posts on May 5th are a pathetic 455.

        The lowest I’ve ever seen.

I’ll check his twitter timeline to see if it’s been noticed…

      • Engineer #5 says:

Current BRC count is 735. Probably won’t make 740. There have been a dozen or so days this year where it didn’t break 700.

As noted last week in the most recent “statistic-y” DoD post, LGF’s current comment numbers are similar to those from February 2003.

The invasion of Iraq in March 2003 boosted LGF’s weekly-averaged daily comment counts to over 1000 where they remained until the last 2 or 3 weeks.

    • Bagua says:

      Yep.

  36. df's puddy tat says:

    ISTE :
We get 734 down in the boiler room

Midnight 05/06/12 – Midnight 05/07/12 is the correct count at 734 + page comments in the same time period?

I don’t really want to go over there and look, I am trusting your numbers.

    • Bagua says:

My maths are more fun than your maths.

I used “Mike’s Nature Trick” to generate a better looking hockey stick.

Ask Ludwig, that is actually real scientist speak for a complicated algebraic formula

Shhhh… we don’t mention embarrassing things from people’s pasts. 😆

        I saw it too..

The photographs are refreshingly candid views of the natural world that surrounds us, yet each from a perspective that builds a dream world out of our otherwise urban landscape. Each month the viewers sees the world from a new perspective, reminding them of the beauty that can be found all around them . An excellent Holiday Gift for all who appreciate beauty and nature.

      • Bagua says:

Ha! Beat you too it below.

Taking the piss on LGF was an art form in itself, Walter was the master.

    • ISTE says:

Yep, that is the way we work it. Midnight to midnight and unless there is an unusual event the comments on the user pages are around 10% of the total.

That skews if either there is a front page article that attracts a lot of comments, like a presidential debate, or someone posts a hot item user page like fox sluts.

Generally the 90% 10% rule applies.

      • df's puddy tat says:

This is where I want Engineer #5 to come around and do some explaining.
Are the page views 10% or 20% of the comment total over the last quarter.

I need a damn graph to help me figure the numbers out.

      • Bagua says:

You are a midnightest, Bagua is a datest.

You prolly use that metric thingy as well, huh?

Or, (the horror) those “pints” which wouldn’t fill a proper pint jar?

      • Engineer #5 says:

I just threw in a comment up thread… I didn’t know you guys were down here discussing the same thing.

      • ISTE says:

If you use the dates of the articles only it does come close to the midnight to midnight totals.

Using the date method then there are 455 comments today but you have to remember that last thread will be the one everyone comments on until 10-11am tomorrow. So, even though there are 455 comments, there is still 8 hrs to go, datist wise.

        Trust us…

      • Engineer #5 says:

My back of the napkin calculations say that for May 6th PDT (with 30 minutes left), there were 671 comments on front page posts, and 64 on the “Pages”. 91% front page, 9% Pages.

      • df's puddy tat says:

Damn you ISTE and Engineer #5 – OK the 10 % rule applies.

Unlike my closet where the 80%/20% principal rules.

      • ISTE says:

15 minutes to go to Midnight PDT. I am setting up a panty raid….

  37. poteen2 says:

Actually, since I guess I could post a review using any name I want on that site, I thought it might be someone trying to get your goat……

  39. Bagua says:

Just for the record… Bagua the critic has been posting comment counts based upon the date of the post for years.

This midnight to midnight thinking is irrelevant to my method, which used the publishers convention of the date of publication.

For example, The Daily Mail actually hits the stands before day break, which is still dark for those who don’t know this, but they don’t call it The Night Before Mail

        My man of mystery.
Lord knows what time zone you reside in.

I think LGF is in the PST zone – so, 00:01 – 00-00 is what the BRC counts comments in.

      • Bagua says:

Well now, I see a tiny flaw in their caluclatings, they miss a minute every cycle.

        Fake but accurate?

I agree. To all those unbelievers, we do have a VERY accurate way of counting comments. 😉

    • Bagua says:

I agree, but my comment count is also highly accurate pegged to the date.

Plus your results, while accurate for an arbitrary 24 hour period, use the WRONG 24 hour period.

If you want’s to git all ticknical, you should use midnight to midnight Greenwich Mean Time.

  41. Engineer #5 says:

    Repeated from upthread, just because…

Current BRC count is 735. Probably won’t make 740. There have been a few days this year where it didn’t or barely broke 700. Under 600 would be a notable event.

As noted last week in the most recent “statistic-y” DoD post, LGF’s current comment numbers are similar to those from February 2003.

To paraphrase a wise if bloodthirsty man, how many divisions have the Greeks? They haven’t conquored anything since the end of Alexander’s Empire, really. They were the cradle of Western Civilization, for real, but they haven’t done anything meaningful in 2200 years.

      • garycooper says:

Might have something to do with the fact of, as I tell my Greek wife, they made everyone with an IQ over 90 drink hemlock during Socrates’s time. Innovation-content has been rather thin, since then. 😉
