I’m sure Rush is worried about what a leech like Gus thinks.

    • P. Ness Lowell says:

If Rush was worried about advertising revenue, he wouldn’t have told Sleep Number to go pound sand.

  2. doppelganger says:

I love reading the old threads from the archives. We see the major players back in the day, engaged and in command.
In the very silent sort of irrelevent background we see Gus. Nobody regarded gus more so than the dog crap on their shoe. you know it’s there, you can’t really get rid of it so you just ignore it.

    • snowcrash says:

Anyone remember what year Gus showed up? Considering the number of comments he generates, he should be more memorable.

  3. Bagua says:

They finally learned how to embed tweets over there?

    Progress!

  4. waste of electricy to show Gus 802 on computer screens.

  5. doppelganger says:

Gus is laughing at Rush from the back seat of his “house”.

  6. garycooper says:

The gas-fumes from the lawnmower are making Gus giddy.

  7. Wind Up Bird says:

Rush is the most evil man alive.

    • GJT says:

      Awesome profile!

    • Lily says:

Oh please. One of most most ‘evil’ men alive? Really?
Is Rush actually developing nukes in his backyard?
Is Rush chopping people’s heads off?
      Is Rush straving people?
How many people has Rush killed?
Is Rush a Los Zeta member? People need to know if he is but I doubt it.
Is Rush in control of some ‘country’ we aren’t aware of and making threats to the United States to wipe it off the face of the earth?
Is Rush destroying our country by not allowing it to drill, throwing tons of money into bankrupt green companies?
Is Rush selling guns to the Mexican Cartels?
Is Rush attacking the Catholic Church all the way to the Vatican saying the ‘Holy See’ is a money laundering enterprise ?
Does Rush have some type of evil ‘mind rays’ he subjecting people to? (many people have and do wear tin foil to prevent this, such a simple solution to counteract the MOST EVIL MAN ALIVE, also of note Gary says the heavy duty tin foil is the best)
I mean really, I don’t even listen to Rush, but to say he is the most ‘evil’ men alive is a bit of a stretch. If you are going to put something like that up there——PROVIDE EVIDENCE.
      Simple.
Just throwing out some statement like—–Rush is one of the most evil men alive—-with nothing to back it up is well—-frankly just an opinion, a rather simplistic one that is basically without facts.
Oh wait you are talking about him calling ‘fluke’ a slut!
Goodnight in Georgia! That was soooooooo awful. But wait. Lets see Maher has called women much worse. Yet gets a pass and donates 1 million to re-elect bho, yet bho isn’t returning the money nor is he calling the women that Maher has trashed, demeaned and demonized an apology.
I am sorry your comment has been weighed and found wanting.

Exactly. Rush is much worse, WAY before the Fluke incident.

He is a right winger, attacking everything good and noble, like gays, and brown people and abortion, and freedom.

I have two left wings, which I’ll admit, is a bit awkward.

      • P. Ness Lowell says:

Lefts wings taste just as good as right wings Kentucky fried. Or would you rather be served at Hooters?

      • Wind Up Bird says:

Most definitely Hooters. Most of my self portraits have boobs added.

So you went with the regular tin foil…I’m telling you feathers that the heavy duty tin foil ….works to foil Rush Limbaugh.
No need to get advertisers to dump him when this method works sooooooo much better, apparently Gus isn’t up on the new tech out there.
        Tragic.

Damn brilliance there. You went with chicken feathers….I have it on excellent information (my husbands because he spent his summer on a farm) That it is better to have ‘duck feathers’ for water to run off on, chicken feathers water doesn’t run as well off of hence they have to have a chicken coop. So next time buy duck feathers.

But showing a little class is not exactly up Chuckie’s alley, is it?

I agree with Bell’s basic point here. I don’t agree with a lot of what Farrakhan says – for example, he’s made many blatantly antisemitic statements.

But that’s not the only side of Farrakhan. He also has a strong message of responsibility and self-reliance for young African Americans, and this is why Bell described him as a hero.

Farrakhan is a weird mix of really bad and really good.

Good grief Charlie J, what’s next!

  38. Minnow says:

I guess it may be time to trot out my (already mentioned several times) economic correlator tool – just for good measure….

    Let’s see….

How many registered users did Chunk have in his hay day?

    5,000?

    10,000?

    20,000?

Let’s say 5,000 would have paid (though more would have – imo).

Now, if Chunky had instituted a paid subscription for LGF. Let’s say $12.00 per year. Hell, let’s say he made it $30.00 per year. That’s $2.50 per month.

Okay, let’s just say $12.00 per year. A buck a month.

Now, for 5,000 people, that would be $60-K a year. Throw in some ad revenues….

Double it because more people probably would have paid…(which doesn’t seem too far-fetched) …hmmmm.

I wonder what Fatso is pullin’ down now?

    Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha…

    • Bagua says:

That is a very modest estimate, as he would have had vastly more add revenue as well when the site was well visited.

Add to that the potential for a buy-out or JV… and he really sold his work down the tubes for a handful of nickles.

Now pathetically trying to scare up traffic. Sad really, because he had something admirable and pioneering at one point. Now just a shell only us mockers take notice at.

So Rush “lost” 98 advertisers according to ThinkProgress, yet included in that number are companies that have never advertised and said they won’t. Some of the ones that left are now begging to come back, and others are seeing their stock plummet. New advertises have already signed up. I’d say Rush will be fine.

  46. doppelganger says:

hey WUB, are you the real feathered creature or an imposter ( because nic jacking is bad form )

did you know that the most evil man alive , Rush Limbaugh is

The Giving Back Fund’s 10 Most Generous Celebrities for contributions to charities and individuals, such as the Marine Corps – Law Enforcement Foundation.
    and
Raised 20 Million Dollars for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society since 1989. Each year Rush hosts a Radiothon (one three-hour broadcast per year) during his program to raise funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma research

If somebody claims on here to be WUB, I 100% guarantee it’s not.

      Just a public service announcement

      • Claytonia Sibirica says:

because you see, that’s not how he rolls.

If you see something like “The angry ghost of Richard M Nixon” talking about how he is doomed to haunt this world for his sins against humanity, that’s more likely him.

    • Lily says:

Smearing his commentors?? God heavens they do enough smearing by themselves.
Apparently they are all stupid because contraceptives have been free for a very long time.
Also they no longer fact check themselves anymore.
If that is what got you the boot. I would say good grief and never look back.

  55. haysoos says:

I was always a huge Clapton fan…then he went popster and my heart sank….I waited 30 years and fought untold debates about his playing, mostly with people that didn’t ever realize his blues prowess…if these Scorseses tapes don’t prove me out, then nothing will….here, he is playing with passion, attacking, and flat out shredding, all his tricks on display….the guy is a monster

  56. haysoos says:

you folks are too kind…I just defend those that can’t too well….style means alot to me and there is plenty of good vibe around this joint

  57. Minnow says:

I saw Eric Clapton around 1980 in Houston. Muddy Waters opened for him.

The crowd, owing to the hideous Houston traffic, dribbled in throughout Muddy’s set. They were loud and rude and it pissed Muddy off. Such a shame – the guy was great. Muddy ended by singing “Nine below Zero”.

Clapton then came out and dedicated the concert to the blues…. doing his best to sound as good as Muddy.

A lot of people missed the boat that night (imo).

  58. I should say that the headline for the tweet Gus is referencing here is misleading, I think. The article in question appears to be referring to a list of 98 advertisers who want to avoid controversial radio programs generally, and not specific to Rush’s show, or not necessarily exclusive or inclusive to the advertisers that were on the official Rush “dropped” list.

The headline is suggesting that the number has risen to 98, and we’re left to assume that this includes those that have already been covered in the last week. But that article doesn’t specifically say that.

    /fact check mode off

    • Bagua says:

Ha! Quelle surprise that it would be “fake but accurate”.

      Excellent point.

    • Lily says:

Chen doing the fact-checking that lgf simply doesn’t know how to do.
/their heads are firmly in their opinions and damn be the facts!

    • Don’t get me wrong…still bad news for Rush…but the article doesn’t mention how many of those 98 were advertising on Rush’s show (if any, or all, I didn’t find it). You can’t lose what you don’t have.

      • Zappa Would Be Vomiting says:

You can’t lose what you don’t have.

Ironically not so. That is what this whole “debate” is about – people losing a benefit that they didn’t have.

The entire construct that Chuckie et al’s premises are based on is false.

  59. Bagua says:

saw therm both several times…I was backstage with Muddy one time but didn’t meet him personally…my legs were like jelly…overhearing the convo, he was a very sweet, softspoken man, very gracious I guess you’d say, ordinary yet he seemed to command respect, not by his fame, but just as a man….everybody loved the guy, except Wolf, of course….

An interesting twist on the Johnson Farrakahn connection; apparently Glen Beck and the NOI are feuding again. I grew up in Michigan, garage band heaven…I recall Nuge when he was just out of high school…the Amboy Dukes, Dick Wagner, Mitch Ryder, MC5, Brownsville Station, Rotary Connection….all those guys were local/regional bands for us…and then the bomb fell…the first Ann Arbor Blues Fest, same weekend as Woodstock…but that’s another story

  64. And with that, we now find this misleading headline on LGF’s front page:

    • P. Ness Lowell says:

      Are his nostrils orange?

    • On the plus side, it does appear that the tweet counter over at Think Progress actually counts tweets, so they’ve got that going for them…

    • Lily says:

      Who would have thunk it?
      /////////////////////////////////

    • swamprat says:

And that is my point exactly. He runs a leftwing bit of sludge with nary a trace of factcheck. It is just an unexamined bit to shore up a preconceived viewpoint.

The truth doesn’t matter, only the perception. He is an undiscerning spewer of an and all things left, a two dimensional caracature of actual, thoughtful lefties, of whom I respect, by the way.

    Sad day 😦

  67. Zappa Would Be Vomiting says:

Let’s comb through the archives and organize an advertiser boycott of LGF.

There are plenty of things he has said over the years or allowed to be said. Who cares whether we agree with the sentiment or not or find it appropriate in context. Those trying to boot Limbaugh off the air don’t care about playing fair. Nor does Chuck with his “War on women” charade. If I wanted to declare war on a group I wouldn’t do it by not giving them something for free that they had to pay for before.

Yeah, like there is no line of advertisers waiting to get space on a venue of one of the most disposable-income demographics in America.

While the matress company that dumped him watches their stock do an imitation of David Carruso’s career.(southpark reference)

Apparently the people who called for the boycott either live in their mothers’ basement, or have no immediate plans to buy a mattress.

No. It doesn’t. I liked Texas (I lived in Galveston for several years). I have very fond memories of the place.

I didn’t mean to pass judgement on Houstonians. But, it was a young crowd bent on seeing Clapton and wanting Rock and Roll. What they got was the blues.

I was there for the blues of Muddy. I was pleasantly surprised by Clapton that night
