Damn Statistics

There were two jihad groups who claimed responsibility.

      • Basement Cat says:

It’d be easy enough for a jihadi group to go ahead and manipulate some nut case to do something like this, so as to discredit the counterjihad.

The nut case might never know that those who quietly egged him on were actually jihadis.

        Just sayin’.

Excellent. Somebody said LGF isn’t right wing anymore, however, a lot of the writings cited were written when it definitely was.

  8. Running Bare says:

I’ve really not spent much time on tbe whole Charles Johnson thing. Yeah, it’s a nice diversion when I get bored. A joke here and there just for shit & giggles. Now, that being said…

What he is doing now is what I call a “Shit Move”. It just ain’t right, and sometimes you gotta just stand up and say “Enough”. I’ve reached that point. Whether I agree or disagree with Pam Geller or Robert Spenser or anyone else, what is being done to them is wrong: The amount of crap being directed at the Right, andtbe demonizarion of perfectly valid viewpoints – especially Pam it seems – is uncalled for, irresponsible, and frankly dangerous. Allow me to explain why:

Let’s humor Charles for a moment and peetend that what he is saying is true – that Geller and the rest did inspore this guy, and somehow share blame. Not true, but okay, let’s go with it. Is the answer eeally to whip up anger and rage; pointing fingers and casting blame the answer? What happens if someone, some other nutjob out there thinks “Charles is right. These monsters must be stopped” and does something like what occurred in Norway? Does Charles want that on his conscience? It could happen. This kind of demonization can be dangerous, if what Charles claims is true.

In addition, by leaving out his own culpability is the height of hypocrisy – Geller got her start at LGF, promoted, endorsed, and embraced by Charles. Same with JihadWatch, Fjordman, and many others. This is conveniently ignored by Charles, while he uses the deaths of dozens for political gain. That disgusts me, and should disgust anyone with any humanity no matter what your politics are. It should be denounced.

Now, as I’ve said before – no one, not Geller, Spenser, Fjordman, or Charles are responsible for what this guy did, no more than the Beatles are responsible for Manson, or Judas Priest and Ozzy are responsible for teen suicides etc.

The revisionist history, the finger-pointing, the demonization, the use of violent deaths as a way to enhance a personal vendetta and sell advertising, and everything else about this episode is a disgusting display of a severely flawed, immoral, and ethically-handicapped character that makes me ashamed of having ever been a part of the LGF site in any way – no matter how great it once was.

It makes one stop and think that perhaps, just perhaps, the LGF that many of us once knew was also nothing more than profiting on the deaths of 3000 people on 9/11. Charles – you’re a shitty excuse for a human being.

  10. Lord Nazh says:

I wonder why they didn’t include ‘left/center’ blogs too ….hmm

  11. dwells38 says:

Blogs like Geller, Spencer, LGF et cetera don’t radicalize anyone because they only give information about the concern (in this case radical Islam) but do not advocate violence other than fighting the soldiers (jihadsts) on the other side. This guy used those sites to fuel his radicalism, true. But if they didn’t exist he could easily have Googled all of those articles about radical Islam’s atrocities and liberal embrace of multi-culturalism himself and undoubtedly would have given his prolific manifesto and crazed fanaticism.

Else what do we conclude? We can’t view blogs like Weazel Zippers where they’re still fighting the good fight because some nut might go crazy? Nuts will find something to go crazy about either way.

In many places around the world in isolated Muslim enclaves, even here I’m sure there are fundamentalist Imams encouraging people to, yes go out and hurt people. According to the Koran this mayhem on the infidel is allowed and encouraged. This is the larger threat and requires systemic reform from within. Not isolated crazies from a more sane culture.

Voice/text converter thing? Does that work like a ,,,,, phone?/

    • dwells38 says:

Uh no. Phones convert your voice to an electronic signal and then translate it via the receiver back to voice. I’ve been using phones since I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and they never converted voice to text. Something that requires a thing called a computer. I bet you have one!! Maybe your gramma bought it for you for graduating eleventh grade?

I hope you’re not one of those young dumbassed pissants who thinks he’s clever and doesn’t realize what a technical feat voice to text technology is. People worked on it for decades and now it actually fucking works on a tiny computer I can hold in my hand. I can even do Google searches by talking at the fricking thing.

Did you get my reference to electronic sheep? I doubt it.

    • dwells38 says:

Oh that was way too crusty and mean. Nice try at a funny. Anyway here’s the reference, an excellent sci-fi novel from 1968 by the great Phillip K. Dick called ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep’ (not electronic). It became the basis for the movie Blade Runner in case you didn’t know.

There are less mentions of Atlas than of LGF, and moreover I think most, if not all, mentions are by Fjordman, not by Breivik.

That said, Fjordman was explicitly identified as Breivik’s favorite author, and Spencer and Geller were cited among the people admired by Breivik – not in the book, but in the document.no comments.

I thought alley was going to trot CJ out as a badass left blog too, but it was only Norwegian experts who made the links to his site smooth as glass, and said breivik did nothing to norwegian society.

Only thing really up for discussion was how many years breivik can get for his crimes.

“As I wrote yesterday, the chain of responsibility in this case is much clearer than it was in the Gabrielle Giffords shooting. There’s no doubt whatsoever that Anders Behring Breivik was seriously influenced by these people, and they know it. Their guilty consciences are showing.” (relevant portion bolded).

And how is what he’s doing now any different? What if some nut goes into a Christian church or a creationist museum or a right wing rally and kills a bunch of people and cites LGF in THEIR manifesto?

Time to quit blogging altogether I guess.

  24. OldLineTexan says:

I’m still amazed that Stalker Charles would attempt such a blatant rewrite of history. Bringing up his epic Giffords “responsibility” FAIL as an argument FOR his ridiculous Breivik hypocrisy is past what I would have expected of him in terms of delusion and dishonesty. And that’s saying something.

I like rutabaga. Please use something we can all agree to deride. I suggest kale.

  26. Mandingo Warrior says:

In addition to his “counter-jihad” ideology (taken directly from the hateful writing of bloggers Fjordman, Pamela Geller, and Robert Spencer), Breivik was also a fan of high profile climate change deniers, as Graham Readfearn points out: Norwegian Terrorist Anders Breivik Reveals Climate Denial Influences.

CJ doesn’t even mention his own blogs appearances in breiviks manifesto. How convenient. Does he really think he’s fooling anyone?

  27. Alberta Oil Peon says:

I’m curious to know if the Boiler Room crew has made any effort to determine if Anders Breivik ever had a nic at LGF.

Seeing as Breivik apparently claimed to have interacted with Fjordman on blogs, would it be possible to search threads on which Fjordman commented for postings by otherwise obscure nics?

    • I think it would be difficult to do. Without IP tracking and without a nic, whomever the BRC thought breivik might be would still be speculation.

Only charles could no for sure. He has referrer logs and IP’s

    • RB says:

Well, since Charles jumped on the (incorrect) bandwagon of claiming Breivik was Fjordman, then yeah, he did. 😉

    • ChenZhen says:

Bad news: Unless there is some sort of clear-cut ID somewhere in the LGF comment archives, speculation is as good as we can do.

Good news: if there is, CJ can’t stop us from finding it.

That said, we busted out The World’s Greatest Blog Search Engine™ and used a few key words and phrases. So far, we get a lizard who went by “templar”, but context led us to believe that this person was not from Europe.

There are lots of comments to go through, so we’re kind of hoping that Breivik will just come out and say something.about it.

      • Emperor says:

Hmm, well, if there’s someone who might be Breivik, there’s no point in not posting a sample of their comments, even in the comment section.

It’s possible that their username or contents of their messages would match up with those confirmed as Breivik’s. Or, in the case of “Templar” we could throw it out as a false positive.

Maybe search up some of his catchphrases like “cultural marxists” or common topics in his postings. The problem is that the online postings are for obvious reasons less radical than the manifesto, so that may make things more difficult.

I say that it’s a 50/50 chance that he posted there. However, I don’t think this is going to come out unless some digging is done. Certainly Charles isn’t going to do anything about it.

  28. OldLineTexan says:

RB :Well, since Charles jumped on the (incorrect) bandwagon of claiming Breivik was Fjordman, then yeah, he did.

It’s okay; that bandwagon broke as soon as he jumped on it.

  29. beed says:

The only way to do it would be to find certain idiosyncratic terms or phrases in the manifest and search LGF comments for those, like “cultural marxism” etc.

He also, oddly enough, had a 80 year perspective, hence the title of his manifesto: 2083. (He started planning this shit in 2003.) This might be a clue as well.

  30. Beau Gus says:

Here’s a theory for Chuck to try on for size:

Breivik was into video games, therefore all gamers are potential psychopathic killers, and should be banned. And all former Atari programmers, as well.

  31. beed says:

Finding ABB on LGF, if he was ever there, should be top priority! CJ would be forced to publicize e v e r y freaking comment the lunatic e v e r posted, and the ball would start rolling from there.

    Then popcorn.

  32. RB says:

    Show me the racism.

    He’s white.

  33. OldLineTexan says:

“Large portions of Breivik’s manifesto appear to have been copied wholesale from the writings of the Unabomber, suggesting a familiarity with the homegrown terrorists of the United States.”

Oops, missing the word “Leftist” in this sentence. No bias, I’m sure.

“Oslo terrorist Anders Behring Breivik, like most nutjobs, had a substantial Internet presence. ”

Now that’s obviously a veiled slap against Stalker Charles.

  34. RB says:

    So it begins…

Oslo Killer Emailed Plan to More Than 1000 People One Hour Before Massacre

That bloody bastard Anders Breivik sent his plan to kill people in Oslo and Utoya to more than one thousand recipients one hour and 17 minutes before the first explosion. His deadly spam even contained a 1500-page attachment.

The list of recipients go from Norwegian ex-congressman Jan Simonesen to about 250 anti-islamic grous in the United Kingdom, Jewish anti-Muslim Sweden Democrat Isaac Nygren, and a Tanguys Veys, an extreme right Belgian politician.

The email—which the sicko described as “a gift” to Western Europe patriots—was sent at 2:09PM local time. It contained a 1500-page manifesto called “2.083. An European Declaration of Independence” as an attached file, as well as a link to a YouTube video that hasn’t been disclosed yet.

In his manifesto the killer details how he planned and prepared the bombs and the island killings. There were no details about the location of the explosions, however.

He also said that he planned to escape police custody after the killings to go for a second massacre. Finally, he asked the recipients “to distribute it to everyone [they] know.”

So not only the bastard is a bloody killer but a bloody spammer as well. At least the manifesto attachment wasn’t a PowerPoint, but a PDF file.

Did anyone who got that email warn the police?

Actually, with a 1500-page PDF attachment and over 1000 recipients, it’s possible no one even received it before the event actually occurred. That’s a metric assload of data.

    True.

What will be interesting is the list of names he e-mailed that manifesto to. Apart from the media, who did he consider important enough to send that document to?

Did he email it to Charles Johnson?

  36. beed says:

    grandjunctionite :
Beed would disagree. But he is a euro ass man.

    Damn straight. Regular proctologist.

  37. RB says:

“I don’t know why things can’t just stay on the level of the factual,” he said. “I don’t know why everything has to have a slant. I mean, The New York Times has a slant, and in the past I’ve called them out for that.” He sighed. “I miss the days of Walter Cronkite.”

  38. Notchabusiness says:

(sigh) There’s nothing in what is written in that comment that “makes Charles look bad” unless you add your own layer of interpretation. In the context of discussion it is pointed out that there are less mentions of AS than of LGF (this same fact was pointed out in the very first comment upon acquiring the book – “More than 20 links to LGF. But incomparably more – to jihadwatch, and a bit less – to Atlas Shrieks.”). It is also pointed out that this means nothing by itself, since those are quotes by Fjordman, and moreover, Breivik explicitly admires Geller elsewhere, but nowhere writes about admiring Charles.

Now you can start your old song about how Charles was an influence, that second-hand quotes do matter as much as first-hand quotes, etc., whatever.

    • Mr Caps says:

Anders Breivik is the only one responsible for his crimes, not Geller, not Johnson, not Spencer.
Now go back and tell your master that while he is pointing the finger of blame at others he has three fingers pointing back at him.

    • Surgey Stroganoff says:

      In summary,

The layers of interpretation added to the refutation refutes that it means anything and nothing to fact that while the number of links doesn’t matter, it does indeed matter in the context that the quotes of fjordman were quoted on LGF which actually doesn’t matter in that Breivak admired Pam Gellar elsewhere other than and despite the transparent transparency of the incomparably linked manifesto.

Now I can return to King Chunky and report that I stymied the stalkers with incredible obtuseness and obfuscation with feather duster in hand and a hunger for sweaty Cheeto tidbits, etc., groovy.

  39. Beau Gus says:

    Here we go again…

    • Beau Gus says:

      😛

    • Surgey Stroganoff says:

Do not bother with that link since it is obviously transparent that fjordman is responsible for that profile and not Charles. You cannot refute my refutation that fjordman indeed posted under the name Charles and the interpretation must indeed be interpreted that fjordman was responsible for all the anti-jihad posts at LGF in that Charles was out on a Cheetos run for several years.

The transparency of your transparent lies are the result of my refutational refutes of the lying liars who lie.

      • Beau Gus says:

There are those who believe that “Charles” is more than one person. Or more than one personality, anyway.

    • Bunk X says:

      Twitter-worthy.
