Alouette’s “St. Pancake” Spoofs

While we’re on the subject of “St. Pancake” at LGF….Yesterday, I posted up this little nugget:

The link was dead, so I had to satisfy my curiosity. With the help of the google, I found it, and I’ve decided that it should really be here for posterity:

And while I was at it, I discovered that this wasn’t Alouette’s only painstakingly crafted tribute to Corrie:

After all, they are collectors items.

  1. nil says:

Wow,nice find Chen! Those are collectors’ items alright. So has Alouette denounced herself yet?

So these ‘spoofs’ are from back in the early, mythic days of LGF, when the lizards were out of control and running wild, and Charles abhorred stuff like this but was helpless to stop it?

Has anyone ever conjectured exactly how that might have worked?

    • I specifically remember Charlie referring to Corrie as a speed bump before. There literally have to be dozens of threads on corrie somewhere in the dark recesses of Charlie’s site.

      • nil says:

Nah – can’t be. Because just the other week, in The Guardian no less, Charles uncategorically denied ever personally disparaging Corrie like that.

    • Charles Johnson's bicycle seat says:

Alouette – the gal who in October 2009 asked cookbook girl “I wonder if I should tear out the recipes from the cookbook that were submitted by Lizards who were later banned?”

    • It’s too bad CJ didn’t institute the karma system until later, ’cause something tells me that this would have done quite well.

  2. Whatever says:

But the Saint Jamima pancake recipe had to be removed from the official LFG cookbook, because it was submitted by a stalker.

    • wolfie says:

      😆
Seriously, I wonder if there actually WAS a St. Jemima pancake recipe in the cookbook.
      Does anyone know?

Does anyone at DoD even have a copy of that masterpiece?

  3. Formercorpsman says:

I have to admit, I always liked Alouette.

I would love to know does she still stand by these works? Still posting over there, Charles never liked the reference, how does she stay around still?

Dark Falcon, this is a legitimate question. How do you square this one? Was she wrong? Did she ever apologize? Charles made mention before, some things were off limits now because it might offend some muslim posters on there now.

Lets employ a little intellectual honesty. Come on now man, what is it gonna be?

    • Whatever says:

She’s not the brightest bulb in the marquee, but she seemed nice enough. There’s was an Israeli professor with the handle “Pitricus”, and the two of them were like Itchy and Scratchy. Pitricus was an obnoxious sourpuss, but she was usually right.

    • wolfie says:

I always liked Alouette, too. From what I remember, she had a very pleasant temperament.

  4. Barrett Brown says:

Find Johnson referring to her as a speed bump and I’ll change the nature of the game a bit.

  5. wolfie says:

I actually find that second one offensive. Crass and cold-hearted.
Should I send in my application to the Right Reverend Chucky for a purity badge? 😆

    • wolfie says:

Nah. Hit-the-Tip-Jar Chuck wouldn’t send me a lousy badge anyway.
Maybe I’ll apply to the Baltimore Sun. At least they’ll tell me who’s dead.

  6. Roger says:

    Yep, they’re as I remember

Hey, I thought the dickhead deleted any and all comments that talked of violence (yeah I know, I know)…

Is the point of all these posts to prove that Johnson is a hypocritical lying sack of shit?

  10. Beeduwine says:

I did say that the term “st pancake” was crude, but every time I see that keffiyeh-framed, hateful face, I go “screw it, she deserves every bulldozer coming her way”.

Oh, I dunno. Still crude, but man, what a stupid little girl.

    • Whatever says:

I’m a little conflicted about that, because as hate-filled as she was, she was raised that way. Her parents were every bit as loony and hateful as she was. They put her up to it, and AFAIK, paid her way to go to Israel. Now they spend their lives running around giving speeches about her.

AFAIK, they’re responsible for her miserable life, and her miserable death. The parents are almost as low as the Palestinians who actually killed her.

      • Beeduwine says:

A point well made, but bear in mind, she was twentythree. By most standards, she would be responsible for her own actions.

But I agree. It is conflicting.

      • Barrett Brown says:

Do you think you would still feel conflicted if you saw a video of this girl actually getting crushed and killed by a bulldozer in the act of protesting on behalf of other people? Regardless if her sentiments were misguided, or if she was filled with that foolish youthful romanticism that many people find so contemptible, this is a female. There are plenty of people I’d like to see dead, but I can’t fathom feeling anything less than melancholy when any female is killed. I don’t think you people really mean what you’re saying here.

      • Whatever says:

Listen the the chivalry. It’s enough to make a feminist cringe.

      • Barrett Brown says:

Fuck feminism, there are like two dozen actual feminists left, I don’t know a single girl who would disagree.

      • snowcrash says:

BB, I agree. See, IMO this is one of the reasons you should stay around. You live out there on the left where every one agrees with you, like preaching to the choir. In here and at the Blogmocracy you might take a beating, but you are reaching an audience none of your cohorts can.

      • Beeduwine says:

Of course we don’t want to see people crushed by bulldozers. But we don’t necessarily want to see them turned into saints either.

      • Whatever says:

Now that we got that resolved…

      • Mosh Pit Viper says:

        “A female”?

Who cares what sex she was? What, she gets woman points to offset the stupid?

      • Barrett Brown says:

Yes, women do indeed get women points.

      • Whatever says:

        Even Weezy?

      • Beeduwine says:

What, like a “perfect 10”? There is more to a woman than just boobs and bottoms, Barrett.

      • Mosh Pit Viper says:

Why, Barrett? Because the can breed more stupid humans?

A contemptible person is deserving of full contempt, whatever their genetalia. Would a female Charles be any less of a dick?

      • Barrett Brown says:

        Bedouine(lol) – No, there isn’t.

      • Formercorpsman says:

        Conflicted? No.

I don’t think you would have anyone here taking the same pleasure in watching the actual video of her demise, nowhere near the joy the scum she was trying to protest for, who teach their kids to kill the Jews, via Nahoul the Bunny.

Fine, you want to split hairs because she is a female? I won’t give that same credit. How much contraband made its way into Rafah because she was a stool pidgeon for the ISM? Utter bullshit Barrett. Did she provide enough interference that it allowed the next delivery of rockets to be launched at some daycare? A school?

        Get real.

      • Whatever says:

        >>”There is more to a woman than just boobs and bottoms, Barrett.”

Aisha used to talk about front and back bottoms. That’s at least three. Four if you count the boobs separately.

      • Barrett Brown says:

Contraband includes various food items and whatnot. The Wikileaks release, which you and most people will never see, showed that the plan was to strangle their economy without quite starving them and causing visible humanitarian crisis. I’m not debating anyone unless they are able to display a certain level of knowledge, regardless of what side they’re on.

      • Whatever says:

        >>”Would a female Charles be any less of a dick?”

Now I’m going to be up all night thinking about that one.

      • Whatever says:

        >>”Wikileaks release, which you and most people will never see, showed that the plan was to strangle their economy without quite starving them and causing visible humanitarian crisis.”

Now, you’re somewhere between 9/11 trutherism and blood libels. What was that that Chuck used to say? I invite you to piss off?

      • Formercorpsman says:

Food aid & toothpaste? How much aid do we provide to the Palestinians at the taxpayer’s expense each year?

      • Formercorpsman says:

They’ve done well enough causing their own damn humanitarian crisis. Shit, they voted in Hamas. What about that Charter?

        Green helmets babe.

They could have had a state. They could have had autonomy. They refused. Shit Barret, that is why we had the bastards of CAIR meeting in 1993 in a Philadelphia hotel.

        Samah-itches.

    • wolfie says:

      Black humor is always problematic.

I don’t mind calling Rachel Corrie “St. Pancake” because the MAIN object of derision is not so much the dead woman as those who have canonized her. And for what? For being morally stupid enough to get flattened.

OTOH, I find the Tonka photo above just plain nasty. Its only reference is to the death of the woman, a woman in this case portrayed as a sweet little girl. Not funny, IMO.

(“Whatever,” your point is well taken, and I cannot help but place the blame on the parents too. And yet,….. where does RC’s own responsibility kick in? It’s a tough call.)

      • Beeduwine says:

Well, yes. But also, portraying her as a victim of the IDF is disrespecting her memory. She is either a fearless martyr or a complete dimwit. Either like a friend taking a bullet for a friend, or a moron laying down to sleep on the railroad track. There is no in-between.

      • Whatever says:

No, you can be a little bit of both. She could have been the brave nimrod standing up to the Zionist tractor, yet fully confident that they would have seen her and stopped. She also could have had full confidence that the Palestinian doctors would save her, only to face the fact that (as one of their leaders said) she was worth more to them dead than alive.

There are all manners of double-crosses that could have been pulled on an idealistic young knucklehead by cynical old dastards.

      • Beeduwine says:

Your scenarios point to a dimwit, I think. The point still stands: She risked her life, either on purpose, or not. Which one it is, is up for debate.

But portraying someone who was actively seeking out a situation to put her life on the line as a victim simply does not work.

  11. Nodrog says:

From a January 9, 2008 thread on Nodrog’s Greatest Hits, quoting from a January 13, 2004 LGF thread:

Charles and the minions love to accuse the Islamic World of glorifying a culture of death. And then there’s this post: on January 13, 2004, Charles announced the winner of the coveted “Fiskie” Idiotarian of the Year award. The winner? Rachel Corrie, a far-left Washingtonian (State) nitwit who went to Gaza to protest Israeli “brutality” and got herself run over by a bulldozer. House Cartoonists Cox & Forkum provided a suitably tasteless drawing for the occasion. The Lizardoids started celebrating right away (there were 908 comments on this post, which may have been a record at the time). In #39 I weighed in:

Sorry to throw a monkey wrench in all the self-congratulation, but no one dead, even Rachel Corrie, deserves the glee shown by Cox & Forkum and posters to this thread over her death.

The historical parallel that comes to mind is William Randolph Hearst’s newspapers obliquely calling for the assassination of President William McKinley in 1901, so violently in opposition they were to his Philippines policies. Soon afterwards, he was assassinated, and the Hearst press was rightfully condemned and disgraced.

So no, Cox & Forkum don’t deserve to be in any newspapers.

The Lizardoids had a mixed reaction – some angry, some actually complimenting me as the “thinking troll” (#45 Jaffar). In #83 I expounded further:

Well, a little clarification is in order:

First, in thinking about it, the death of certain individuals should bring about great joy and dark humor. Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin, Yasser Arafat; there are lots of monsters out there who deserve the Cox & Forkum touch as shown in their cartoon.

But a poor, pathetic, duped, foolish girl with a martyrdom complex like Rachel Corrie doesn’t deserve this kind of treatment. It’s in bad taste, and I’m glad there are some other posters out there who appear to agree with me.

Second, my analogy, as SoCalJustice and others have pointed out, is not actually anywhere close to an analogy. I guess my point is that, in response to those who say this shows that Cox & Forkum should be in mainstream newspapers, it in fact shows that they exceed the bounds of taste and decency, just as William Randolph Hearst did in 1901. I admit, upon reflection, it is quite a stretch.

    I followed up with #89:

One other clarification: I think she still deserves her award, even if it is posthumous. It’s hard to be sympathetic to someone like Rachel Corrie. But LGF managed to bring out such feelings in me with the lizardoids’ (and Charles, and Cox & Forkum) boorish behavior.

    • wolfie says:

But, Charles never, ever approved of all this!
He hated Cox & Forkum and their little dog too! 😆

Conflicting, and a tragedy, for sure.

And make no mistake – Johnson owns LGF’s history of crude vitriol toward Corrie.

Fast forward eight years – the tactics are the same, only the targets have changed – Geller and Palin.

  13. The Osprey says:

    St. JEMIMA? That’s RAAAACIST!

  14. ISpeakJive says:

Step back a but and remember that wasn’t she defending “poor Palestinians” houses getting randomly knocked down by the Israeli’s for spite, but houses that were covering weapons smuggling tunnels and being used to store ammo. Am I remembering this right? She wasn’t defending anything that deserved defending and was, her whole short life, A-Okay with killing Jews pretty much anywhere at anytime.

  15. buzzsawmonkey says:

What’s really funny—the icing on the cake—is that when Corrie’s parents tried to sue for damages in an Israeli court they used a toy bulldozer and a huge doll to try and “re-enact” Rachel Corrie’s death.

In other words, it was like the second picture above—except that the doll was about twice the size of the bulldozer. It appeared on WeaselZippers about four or five months ago.

  16. ISpeakJive says:

BB: A lot of the group here spent half a decade or more at LGF learning ALL about the Palestinians and their problems, self-imposed and otherwise. That was LGF’s reason d’etre during those years. And what an education it was. Their economy sucked for a while because they suicide-bombed/temper-tantrumed their way out of 100,000’s of jobs in Israel. Lay down your arms and stop killing Jews and life improves. Cause and effect there.

    • Formercorpsman says:

I was not going to make mention of that, but I think you read between the lines pretty well.

  17. m says:

You don’t think choosing bombs, death and destruction over infrastructure and advancement has anything to do with their “humanitarian crisis”?

No, I wouldn’t like to see her ran over by a Cat. But if it was up to me she wouldn’t have been over the with the ISM spreading hate and giving cover to and justifying terrorism against Israel. And she would have gotten out of the way of a bulldozer with blind spots.

    If I had ::my:: drathers……

There is no “humanitarian crisis” in Gaza. If you believe there is, you are a fool; if you know better and still claim there is one, you are a contemptible liar.

The Arabs’ problems are entirely—entirely—self-inflicted. These international welfare whores collect money from the US, the EU, the UN, the Arab countries, and from Israel, and have used this support for decades to build nothing but a culture of death and murder.

You want to cry over the deluded idiot Rachel Corrie, who sacrificed her life to these thugs for no purpose, by all means do so—but you should realize that there is every likelihood that the poor fool was put in harm’s way precisely for the purpose of being killed and to thereby provide a Western martyr for a vile and unworthy cause. If you wish to weep over the Arabs who style themselves “Palestinians,” you will find few here who would join you, which is as it should be.
